Pogonocharax Regan [C. T.] 1907:261 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 7) v. 19 (no. 111) (art. 31); ref. 3630] Masc. Pogonocharax rehi Regan 1907. Type by monotypy. Based on an aquarium fish (probably from southern Asia), wrongly reported from Argentina and wrongly thought to be a characin (R. M. Bailey). •Synonym of Esomus Swainson 1839 -- (Kottelat 2013:101 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Esomus Swainson 1839. Danionidae: Esominae.
