Paralectotypes: QM (1) missing. Replacement name for Equula argentea De Vis 1884, secondarily preoccupied in Leiognathus by Leiognathus argenteus Lacepède 1802 -- (Jones 1985:578 [ref. 21842]). Description by De Vis was based on two syntypes, only one remained and was wrongly designated as a holotype by Whitley 1929:115 [ref. 4665]. Whitley 1932:105 [ref. 4675] stated "Lectotype of Equula argentea De Vis = holotype of Leiognathus devisi Whitley, but devisi is a replacement name taking the same two types as Equula argentea De Vis. •Synonym of Leiognathus decorus (De Vis 1884) -- (Hoese & Bray 2006:1179 [ref. 29000]). •Synonym of Nuchequula gerreoides (Bleeker 1851). •Synonym of Eubleekeria splendens (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kottelat 2013:338 [ref. 32989], Chakrabarty & Sparks 2022:421 [ref. 39869]).
