Appeared first in Jordan 1895 as above, with reference to Jordan & Evermann's genus name and characters; also appeared as new in Jordan & Evermann 1896:802 [ref. 2443]. •Synonym of Atherinella Steindachner 1875, but a valid subgenus Eurystole -- (Chernoff 1986:243 [ref. 5847], Dyer 2000:104 [ref. 26677]). •Synonym of Atherinella Steindachner 1875 -- (Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:192 [ref. 24550], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:515 [ref. 27061]).
