Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Thynnichthys Bleeker 1859 in fishes, replaced by Wanderer Whitley 1937 (see also Appendix A in Eschmeyer 1990 [ref. 20647]). Type-species designated by Dresslar & Fesler 1889:435 [ref. 27065]. •In the synonymy of Euthynnus Lütken 1883 -- (Postel 1973:470 [ref. 7208], Collette 2003:3 [ref. 27312]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Euthynnus Lütken 1883. Scombridae: Scombrinae.

Wanderer Whitley [G. P.] 1937:229 [Australian Zoologist v. 8 (pt 4); ref. 4690] Masc. Thynnus thunina Cuvier 1829. Type by being a replacement name. If regarded as a replacement [which we do] for Thynnichthys Giglioli 1880 (preoccupied by Thynnichthys Bleeker 1860 in fishes), then type is as above. Whitley named the type as Wanderer wallisi Whitley and that is type if regarded as a new genus; see Appendix A in Eschmeyer 1990 [ref. 20647]. •Synonym of Euthynnus Lütken 1883 -- (Collette 2003:3 [ref. 27312]). Current status: Synonym of Euthynnus Lütken 1883. Scombridae: Scombrinae.
