zonatus, Fundulus Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1846:196 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 18; ref. 1011] South Carolina, U.S.A. Holotype (unique): MNHN B-0907 (poor condition). Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1950:13 [ref. 19576]. Questionably referred to Esox zonatus by Valenciennes, which is Fundulus zonatus Mitchill, so Valenciennes species is secondarily preoccupied (subjectively invalid) in Fundulus if regarded as a separate description. •Synonym of Fundulus lineolatus (Agassiz 1854) -- (Wildekamp 1996:272 [ref. 23649], Lazara 2001:154 [ref. 25711]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Fundulus lineolatus (Agassiz 1854). Fundulidae. Habitat: freshwater.
