Type catalog: Seegers 2008:180 [ref. 29830] with more detailed locality. •Valid as Gnathonemus longibarbis (Hilgendorf 1888) -- (Gosse 1984:71 [ref. 6169], De Vos et al. 2001:129, 131 [ref. 26059], Seegers et al. 2003:28 [ref. 28087], Seegers 2008:180 [ref. 29830], Akoth et al. 2023:7 [ref. 40069]). Current status: Valid as Gnathonemus longibarbis (Hilgendorf 1888). Mormyridae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika basins. Habitat: freshwater.
