Replaced by Gnathonemus pfaffi Fowler 1958. •Synonym of Marcusenius senegalensis (Steindachner 1870) -- (Daget 1984:89 [ref. 6170], Lévèque et al. 1991:138 [ref. 31367]). 2°Homonym. Replacement name for Gnathonemus elongatus Pfaff 1933, secondarily preoccupied by Mormyrus elongatus Rüppell 1832 when treated as congeneric. •Synonym of Marcusenius senegalensis (Steindachner 1870), but a valid subspecies -- (Daget 1984:89 [ref. 6170], Lévèque et al. 1991:138 [ref. 31367]).
