Current status: Valid as Gobioides peruanus (Steindachner 1880). Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: South America: Pacific coast from Mexico south to Ecuador (Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru and Ecuador). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
