Current status: Valid as Halosaurus attenuatus Garman 1899. Halosauridae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific (Gulf of California/Mexico and Gulf of Panama): Galápagos Islands; western Atlantic: Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil); eastern Atlantic: Gulf of Guinea south to Gabon. Habitat: marine.
