Based on literature sources and specimens, perhaps not a replacement of macrolepidotus. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1923 -- (Kottelat 2013:109 [ref. 32989]). Type catalog: Tortonese 1961:185 [ref. 10343]. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota (van Hasselt 1823 or Valenciennes 1842) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:192 [ref. 20764]). •Valid as Poropuntius hampaloides (Vinciguerra 1890) -- (Doi 1997:10 [ref. 22832], Roberts 1998:111 [ref. 23549], Kottelat 2013:144 [ref. 32989], Hoang et al. 2024:216 [ref. 41179]). Current status: Valid as Poropuntius hampaloides (Vinciguerra 1890). Cyprinidae: Cyprininae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Salween River basin, Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater.

Capoeta macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt is tentatively regarded as available. •See Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823. Syntypes: RMNH 2517 (1), 2518 (1), 16411 [ex RMNH 2517] (1). Type information: Roberts 1993:16 [ref. 21799]. Perhaps available as, "The genus Hampla Nob. comes nearest to Leuciscus Cuv. but differs in having 2 filaments at each corner of the mouth; the species is figured under the name Macrolepidota Nob. and occurs near Buitenzorg" [translation from Alfred 1961 [ref. 20553]]. See Kottelat 1987:370 [ref. 5962]. Also in van Hasselt 1824:376 [ref. 5964].
