Current status: Valid as Hemibarbus mylodon (Berg 1907). Gobionidae. Distribution: East Asia: Korea. Habitat: freshwater.

schlegelii, Barbus Günther [A.] 1868:135 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 7; ref. 1990] Japan and Taiwan. Syntypes: (2) BMNH 1865.5.2.14 (1 of 2) Taiwan, 1865.5.2.59 (1). Type catalog: Ho & Shao 2011:26 [ref. 31432]. Based on literature sources and specimens; regarded by Kottelat 2006:35 [ref. 28831] as a replacement name for Gobio barbus Temminck & Schkegel 1846 and types are incorrect.. •Synonym of Hemibarbus barbus (Temminck & Schlegel 1846) -- (Okada 1961:444 [ref. 6363], Okamura & Machida 1987:105 [ref. 22279]). •Synonym of Hemibarbus labeo (Pallas 1776) -- (Luo et al. 1977:444 [ref. 2850], Yue in Chen et al. 1998:237 [ref. 23878] as schlegeli, Kottelat 2006:35 [ref. 28831], Ho & Shao 2011:26 [ref. 31432], Kottelat 2013:110 [ref. 32989], Dyldin & Orlov 2016:660 [ref. 34853]). semibarbus, Barbus Günther [A.] 1889:224 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 6) v. 4 (no. 21); ref. 2016] Chang Jiang [Yangtze River], China. Replacement name for Hemibarbus maculatus Bleeker 1871, preoccupied by Barbus maculatus Valenciennes 1842 when both are in Barbus. However, use of maculatus can be maintained on the basis of Art. 59.3. •Synonym of Hemibarbus maculatus Bleeker 1871 -- (Luo et al. 1977:447 [ref. 2850], Yue 1995:120 [ref. 22652], Yue in Chen et al. 1998:242 [ref. 23878], Kottelat 2013:110 [ref. 32989], Dyldin & Orlov 2016:661 [ref. 34853]).
