Current status: Valid as Hemigrammus bellottii (Steindachner 1882). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco river basins (Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, French Guiana and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.

Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:54 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Hyphessobrycon schauenseei Fowler 1926 -- (Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:140 [ref. 27061]). •Possibly a synonym of Hemigrammus bellottii (Steindachner 1882) -- (Lima et al. 2024:201 [ref. 40817]) Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon schauenseei Fowler 1926. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Inhangapi River drainage, Brazil (only known from the type locality). Habitat: freshwater.
