Current status: Synonym of Hemigrammus unilineatus (Gill 1858). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Habitat: freshwater.

Distribution: South America: rivers of Trinidad, coastal river basins of Venezuela, and of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana; Guaporé and Amazon River basins (Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
