Lectotype selected by Whitehead et al. 1966:42. •Synonym of Herklotsichthys quadrimaculatus (Rüppell 1837) -- (Whitehead 1985:81 [ref. 5141], Kottelat 2013:61 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Herklotsichthys quadrimaculatus (Rüppell 1837). Dorosomatidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
