Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:32 [ref. 12291], Gilbert 1998:153 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Lavinia symmetricus (Baird & Girard 1854), but a valid subspecies -- (Moyle 2002:140 [ref. 26449]). •Synonym of Hesperoleucus symmetricus (Baird & Girard 1854), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Gilbert 1998:153 [ref. 23395], Scharpf 2005:20 [ref. 28940]). •Synonym of Hesperoleucus venustus Snyder 1913, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Baumsteiger & Moyle 2019:233 [ref. 36443]). Current status: Synonym of Hesperoleucus venustus Snyder 1913. Leuciscidae: Laviniinae. Distribution: Tomales Bay / northern SF Bay and Monterey Bay drainages, southern California, U.S.A. [this subspecies]. Habitat: freshwater.
