Current status: Valid as Apolemichthys griffisi (Carlson & Taylor 1981). Pomacanthidae. Distribution: Western and central Pacific: Sulawesi (Indonesia), Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands east to Kiribati (Gilbert Islands), Phoenix Islands and Line Islands. Habitat: marine.
