Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Amdaman Islands (India) and central Indonesia to Philippines, north to southern Japan. Hybridizes in southern Japan with Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844). Habitat: marine.
