Lectotype of Hemiramphus balinensis was selected by Parin et al. 1980:58 [ref.6895] and again by Dor 1984:63 [ref. 29757]. •Valid as Hyporhamphus balinensis (Bleeker 1858) -- (Parin et al. 1980:58 [ref. 6895], Dor 1984:63 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:16 [ref. 25356], Myers 1999:77 [ref. 23965], Collette 1999:2194 [ref. 24785], Collette in Randall & Lim 2000:599 [ref. 25122], Collette 2004:6 [ref. 27583], Fricke et al. 2014:39 [ref. 33932], Fricke et al. 2018:104 [ref. 35805], Golani & Fricke 2018:42 [ref. 36273], Fricke et al. 2019:79 [ref. 36673], Psomadakis et al. 2020:339 [ref. 37272], Collette 2022:366 [ref. 39718]). Current status: Valid as Hyporhamphus balinensis (Bleeker 1858). Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Seychelles, Mozambique Channel and Madagascar east to Tuamotu Archipelago (French Polynesia), north to Philippines, south to northwestern Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
