Paratypes: CAS 607 (dorsal fin). •Synonym of Istiophorus platypterus (Shaw 1792) -- (de Sylva 1973:478 [ref. 7210], Nakamura 1983:280 [ref. 5371], Nakamura 1985:23 [ref. 20161]). Current status: Synonym of Istiophorus platypterus (Shaw 1792). Istiophoridae. Habitat: marine.
