Syntypes: USNM 39304 (2, basis of description) station 2403. Additional syntypes or additional material: USNM 39305-07 (2, 1, 1). Original genus should have been spelled Kathetostoma. Species spelled albigutta in article (title) and in index. •Valid as Kathetostoma albigutta Bean 1892 -- (Berry & Anderson 1961:576 [ref. 37362], Robins & Ray 1986:220 [ref. 23100], Boschung 1992:158 [ref. 23239], Pietsch 1989:296 [ref. 12541], Schmitter-Soto et al. 2000:164 [ref. 27754], Carpenter 2003:1747 [ref. 27092], Nelson et al. 2004:161 [ref. 27807], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:571 [ref. 28815], Page et al. 2013:166 [ref. 32708], Vilasri 2013:89 [ref. 33304]). Current status: Valid as Kathetostoma albigutta Bean 1892. Uranoscopidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: North Carolina south to Florida (U.S.A.); Gulf of Mexico. Habitat: marine.

cubana, Kathetostoma albigutta Barbour [T.] 1941:2 [Proceedings of the New England Zoölogical Club v. 19; ref. 13230] Cuba, 22°49'N, 79°07'W, Atlantis station 3421, depth 234 fathoms. Holotype: MCZ 35506. Paratypes: (20) MCZ 35508 (2), 35509 (now 0), 35510 (3), 35513-14 (3, 4); USNM 153586 [ex MCZ 35509] (2). Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective should be cubanum. •Valid as Kathetostoma cubana Barbour 1941 -- (Berry & Anderson 1961:578 [ref. 37362], Pietsch 1989:296 [ref. 12541], Cervigón 1992:454 [ref. 23827], Cervigón 1994:63 [ref. 24488], Carpenter 2003:1747 [ref. 27092], Vilasri 2013:89 [ref. 33304]). •Valid as Kathetostoma cubanum Barbour 1941. Current status: Valid as Kathetostoma cubanum Barbour 1941. Uranoscopidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bahamas, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras. Habitat: marine.
