Holotype (unique): USNM 981 [= USNM 6176]. •Questionably a synonym of Entosphenus tridentatus Richardson 1836 with author as Gairdner or synonym of Lampetra ayresii (Günther 1870) -- (Renaud 2011:35 and 57 [ref. 31770]). Appeared first as above on 9 Feb.; then in Ayres 1855:28 [ref. 159]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Petromyzon plumbeus Shaw 1804, replaced by Petromyzon ayresii Günther 1870. Neotype designated by Vladykov & Follett 1958:54 [ref. 12288]. •Synonym of Lampetra ayresii (Günther 1870) -- (Scott & Crossman 1998:55 [ref. 24570] as ayresi, Renaud 2011:57 [ref. 31770]). 1°Homonym.
