Unneeded replacement for Lebistes [sic] Smitt 1899, not preoccupied by Lebistes Fillipi 1862 in fishes. Whitley took the apparent preoccupation from Jordan 1920:487 [ref. 4905], but Jordan's entry in error for Lebetus Winther. •Objective synonym of Lebetus Winther 1877 -- (Miller 1973:498 [ref. 6888]). Current status: Synonym of Lebetus Winther 1877. Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae.

Probably based on introduced Poecilia vivipara Bloch & Schneider 1801. •Synonym of Poecilia Bloch & Schneider 1801, but a valid subgenus Lebistes -- (Rosen & Bailey 1963:44, 55 [ref. 7067], Parenti & Rauchenberger 1989:8 [ref. 13538], Costa & Sarraf 1997:186 [ref. 23280], Meredith et al. 2011:[9] [ref. 31575]). •Synonym of Poecilia Bloch & Schneider 1801 -- (Rodriguez 1997:672 [ref. 23266], Poeser & Isbrücker 2002:49 [ref. 34635], Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:567 [ref. 27061], Huber 2019:80 [ref. 36941]).
