jatuncochi, Leporinus Ovchynnyk [M. M.] 1971:100, Figs. 8-9 [Zoologischer Anzeiger v. 187 (nos 1/2); ref. 7699] Lake Jatun Cocha, about 1°00'S, 75°27'W, Province Napo, Ecuador. Holotype (unique): MUSM 5868. •Possible synonym of Leporinus desmotes Fowler 1914 -- ( Burns et al. 2017:18 [ref. 35416]). •Valid as Leporinus jatuncochi Ovchynnyk 1971 -- (Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:76 [ref. 27061], Britski et al. 2012:458 [ref. 32317], Barriga Salazar 2014:105 [ref. 35745], Britski & Birindelli 2016:38 [ref. 34393], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:15 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Leporinus jatuncochi Ovchynnyk 1971. Anostomidae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon basin (Brazil, Ecuador and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
