Holotype: ANSP 180918. Paratypes: lots at AMNH, ANSP, CAS, FMNH, INPA, MBUCV-V, MCNG, MCP, MCZ, MZUSP and UNT. Plus extensive non-type material. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:172 [ref. 29155]. Current status: Valid as Leptodoras cataniai Sabaj Pérez 2005. Doradidae: Doradinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River drainage (Brazil, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
