Lectotype: USNM 44283 (poor condition). Paralectotypes: (1). Current status: Valid as Leuroglossus stilbius Gilbert 1890. Bathylagidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Oregon (U.S.A.) south to Colombia, including Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.

Paratypes: LACM 10004 (126). •Synonym of Leuroglossus stilbius Gilbert 1890, but a valid subspecies -- (Pequeño 1989:29 [ref. 14125]). •Synonym of Bathylagus stilbius (Gilbert 1890) -- (authors). •Valid as Leuroglossus urotranus Bussing 1965 -- (Robertson et al. 2017:38 [ref. 35676]). Current status: Valid as Leuroglossus urotranus Bussing 1965. Bathylagidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Panama to Chile. Habitat: marine.
