oligolepis, Mugil Bleeker [P.] 1859:437, 275? [Natuurkundig Tijdschrift voor Nederlandsch Indië v. 19; ref. 16985] Sumbawa Island, Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia. Syntypes: RMNH 6405 (7). Unfortunately, Ghasemzadeh et al. 2004:15 [ref. 28614] wrongly attribute a holotype to Bleeker's oligolepis, but no holotype was established originally; they designated the "holotype" as the neotype for Mugil parmatus Cantor 1849, but no length was given for the "holotype" so the neotype designation was not established [one could argue that the neotype could be discerned by looking for a specimen so marked in RMNH 6405 (7 specimens)]. •Valid as Mugil oligolepis Bleeker 1859 -- (Ataur Rahman 1989:275 [ref. 24860]). •Valid as Liza oligolepis (Bleeker 1859) -- (Roberts 1978:61 [ref. 8886], Dor 1984:191 [ref. 29757], Coad 1991:26 [ref. 15702], Goren & Dor 1994:51 [ref. 25356], Ataur Rahman 2003:300 [ref. 31338], Coad 2010:236 [ref. 36620], Kottelat 2013:277 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Liza parmata Cantor 1850 -- (Thomson 1997:528 [ref. 23428], Harrison & Senou 1999:2090 [ref. 24780]). •Synonym of Paramugil parmatus (Cantor 1849) -- (Ghasemzadeh et al. 2004:15 [ref. 28614] with 1850 date and wrongly with a holotype). Current status: Synonym of Paramugil parmatus (Cantor 1849). Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
