Paratypes: CAS 38331 (1), 82136 (2); ZMMSU P-15346 (1), 15347 (1), 15350-54 (1, 1, 5, 1, 1), 19489-91 (1, 1, 3). •Valid as Mataeocephalus cristatus Sazonov, Shcherbachev & Iwamoto 2003 -- (Iwamoto & McCosker 2014:281 [ref. 33298], Iwamoto et al. 2015:88 [ref. 35408]). Current status: Valid as Mataeocephalus cristatus Sazonov, Shcherbachev & Iwamoto 2003. Macrouridae. Distribution: Indian Ocean and western Pacific. Habitat: marine.
