Holotype (unique): CAS 98917 [ex IU 17348]. •Valid as Megalamphodus rogoaguae Pearson 1924 -- (Géry et al. 1991:61 [ref. 21021]). •Synonym of Hyphessobrycon megalopterus (Eigenmann 1915) -- (Weitzman & Palmer 1997:231 [ref. 22743], Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:138 [ref. 27061], Sarmiento et al. 2014:47 [ref. 35004]). Current status: Synonym of Hyphessobrycon megalopterus (Eigenmann 1915). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Habitat: freshwater.
