Originally as Mugil (vel Cestraeus?) xanthurus. Based solely on illustration by Reeves (see Whitehead 1970:215, Pl. 24b [ref. 11606]). •Synonym of Liza lauvergnii (Eydoux & Souleyet 1850) -- (Thomson 1997:523 [ref. 23428]). •Synonym of Liza haematocheilus (Temminck & Schlegel 1845) -- (Harrison in Miller 2004:469 [ref. 27853], Kottelat 2013:276 [ref. 32989]).
