Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 187, p. 3273 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] if figured specimen is identifiable. •Synonym of Mycteroperca xenarcha Jordan 1888 -- (Heemstra in Fischer et al. 1995:1603 [ref. 22830], Parenti & Randall 2020:90 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Synonym of Mycteroperca xenarcha Jordan 1888. Epinephelidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
