Holotype (unique): BMNH 1895.5.27.342 (stuffed). •Synonym of Mycteroperca jordani (Jenkins & Evermann 1889) -- (Heemstra & Randall 1993:268 [ref. 21042], Heemstra in Fischer et al. 1995:1599 [ref. 22830], Parenti & Randall 2020:88 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Synonym of Mycteroperca jordani (Jenkins & Evermann 1889). Epinephelidae. Habitat: marine.
