Current status: Valid as Mycteroperca olfax (Jenyns 1840). Epinephelidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: continental Ecuador, and Cocos Island, Malpelo Island and Galápagos Islands. Habitat: marine.

Paratypes: USNM 41274 (1). •Synonym of Mycteroperca olfax (Jenyns 1840) -- (Heemstra & Randall 1993:270 [ref. 21042], Parenti & Randall 2020:88 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Synonym of Mycteroperca olfax (Jenyns 1840). Epinephelidae. Habitat: marine.
