Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Spelled both as knipovitsch and as knipovitschi, the later correct. •Synonym of Benthosema glaciale (Reinhardt 1837) -- (Krefft & Bekker 1973:172 [ref. 7181], Paxton 1979:6 [ref. 6440], Hulley 1990:398 [ref. 15273], Parin et al. 2014:155 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Synonym of Benthosema glaciale (Reinhardt 1837). Myctophidae: Myctophinae. Habitat: marine.

(A. 7); ref. 12242] Sea of Marmara (Mediterranean Sea), 40°48'N, 27°59'E; Alborean Sea, Strait of Messina, Ionian Sea, Adriatic Sea, Bay of Korinth, Mediterranean Sea. Syntypes: ZMUC P2329225 (1). Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:39 [ref. 9588]. •Synonym of Benthosema glaciale (Reinhardt 1837) -- (Paxton 1979:6 [ref. 6440], Bilecenoğlu et al. 2002:44 [ref. 26753], Lipej & Dulčić 2010:24 [ref. 36649]). Current status: Synonym of Benthosema glaciale (Reinhardt 1837). Myctophidae: Myctophinae. Habitat: marine.
