Current status: Valid as Myxine affinis Günther 1870. Myxinidae: Myxininae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic, southeastern Pacific: southern Brazil south to Straits of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego; southern coast of Chile. Habitat: marine. olivacea, Muraenoblenna Lacepède [B. G. E.] 1803:652, 653 [Histoire naturelle des poissons (Lacepède) v. 5; ref. 4930] Strait of Magellan. No types known. Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1993:126 [ref. 20810]. Nomen dubium; possibly the same as the younger Myxine affinis Günther 1870;M. affinis is the name in prevailing usage. •Synonym of Myxine glutinosa Linnaeus 1758 -- (deduced from Lloris & Rucabado 1991:23 [ref. 22530]). •In the synonymy of the younger Myxine affinis Günther 1870 as nomen dubium -- (Wisner & McMillan 1995:539 [ref. 21653]).
