Apparently a replacement name for Pimelodus nangra Hamilton 1822 to avoid strickland tautonomy in Nangra, but Roberts & Ferraris 1998:341 [ref. 23492] did not regard as a strict replacement name and consider specimens from several localities as syntypes.
