Current status: Valid as Taunayia bifasciata (Eigenmann & Norris 1900). Heptapteridae: Heptapterinae. Distribution: South America: upper Paraná, upper Paraíba do Sul, Itapanhaú, Mambucaba and Tietê river basins (southeastern Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
