Originally as stercus muscarum. •Synonym of Neoniphon argenteus (Valenciennes 1831) -- (Randall & Heemstra 1985:3 [ref. 5144]). Current status: Synonym of Neoniphon argenteus (Valenciennes 1831). Holocentridae: Holocentrinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific from the African coast to Tuamotu (Gambier Island) [if valid]. Habitat: marine.
