Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:38 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:62 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Notropis cummingsae Myers 1925 -- (Gilbert 1978:38 [ref. 7042], Lee et al. 1980:259 [ref. 22416], Gilbert 1998:62 [ref. 23395]). •Synonym of Pteronotropis cummingsae (Myers 1925). Current status: Synonym of Pteronotropis cummingsae (Myers 1925). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.

cummingsi, Notropis Myers [G. S.] 1925:1, Fig. 1 [American Museum Novitates No. 168; ref. 12394] Upper Burnt Mill Creek, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina, U.S.A. Holotype: AMNH 8391 (apparently lost). Paratypes: ANSP 53943 (1); BMNH 1925.10.19.5 (1); CAS-SU 24327 (1); UMMZ 66514 (4); USNM 87396 (2), 94145 (2), 94242 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:35 [ref. 12291], Gilbert 1978:39-40 [ref. 7042], Böhlke 1984:74 [ref. 13621], Gilbert 1998:69 [ref. 23395]. Named after a women so name most desirably would have been cummingsae. But that is not a mandatory change. However, it appears that the spelling cummingsae has achieved prevailing use and the name cummingsae should be continued. •Valid as Notropis cummingsae Myers 1925 -- (Gilbert 1978:40 [ref. 7042], Lee et al. 1980:259 [ref. 22416], Page & Burr 1991:150 [ref. 18983], Boschung 1992:55 [ref. 23239], Mettee et al. 1996:253 [ref. 25836], Gilbert 1998:69 [ref. 23395], Nelson et al. 2004:74 [ref. 27807], Boschung & Mayden 2004:239 [ref. 27995], Scharpf 2005:29 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:281 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:74 [ref. 32708], Robins et al. 2018:105 [ref. 35886]). •Valid as Pteronotropis cummingsae Myers 1925 -- (Stout et al. 2022:7 [ref. 39738], Page et al. 2023:75 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Pteronotropis cummingsae (Myers 1925). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Eastern North America: southeastern U.S.A. Habitat: freshwater.
