rubripinna, Cyprinella Garman [S.] 1881:91 [Bulletin of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 8 (no. 3); ref. 1530] Lago del Muerto, near Parras, 25°25'N, 102°11'W, Coahuila, Mexico. Syntypes: MCZ 25891 (2), 24892 (orig. 26, now 20); SMNS 3034 (2); UMMZ 86663 [ex MCZ 24892] (6); USNM 120257 [ex MCZ 14892] (6). Type catalog: Fricke 1995:11 [ref. 28100], Gilbert 1998:144 [ref. 23395], Fricke 2005:31 [ref. 29864]. Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied in Notropis by Argyreus rubripinnis Heckel 1843; replaced by Notropis garmani Jordan 1885. Fricke 2005:32 [ref. 29864] suggests the name is available as the homonymy no longer exists. As the species is currently classified in genus Cyprinella, the original name is here reinstated. •Synonym of Notropis lutrensis (Baird & Girard 1853) -- (Gilbert 1978:76 [ref. 7042]). •Synonym of Cyprinella garmani (Jordan 1885) -- (Mayden 1989:53 [ref. 12555], Gilbert 1998:144 [ref. 23395]). •Valid as Cyprinella rubripinna Garman 1881 -- (Fricke 2005: 32 [ref. 29864], Fricke et al. 2024:170 [ref. 41622]). 2°Homonym.
