lythrurus, Notropis Jordan [D. S.] in Jordan & Meek 1884:476 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 7 (no. 450); ref. 10636] Grand River (or tributary thereof), Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, U.S.A. Lectotype: ANSP 3054. Paralectotypes: ANSP 3055 (1). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:58 [ref. 7042], Böhlke 1984:82 [ref. 13621], Gilbert 1998:108 [ref. 23395]. Based on Minnilus diplaemius (Raf.) Hay of Jordan & Gilbert 1883:197 [ref. 2476] = Hypsilepis diplaemia of Cope 1867:357 [ref. 910], Cope 1868:162 [ref. 7316] (not Semotilus diplemia Rafinesque 1820). Spelled two ways on p. 476; lithrurus spelling corrected on p. viii to lythrurus. For type information see Snelson & Pflieger 1975:235 [ref. 12387] but they and Gilbert wrongly treat Cope's description as the original one, but Jordan & Gilbert's account can stand as the original description for lythrurus as cited by Jordan 1884, and more types probably are involved. Lectotype apparently established first by Böhlke 1984:82 [ref. 13621]. •Synonym of Notropis umbratilis (Girard 1856) -- (Snelson & Pflieger 1975:235 [ref. 12387], Gilbert 1978:58 [ref. 7042]). •Synonym of Notropis umbratilis (Girard 1856), subspecies cyanocephalus (Copeland 1877) -- (authors). •Synonym of Lythrurus umbratilis (Girard 1856) -- (authors). Current status: Synonym of Lythrurus umbratilis (Girard 1856). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.
