Gobileptes (subgenus of Gobius) Swainson [W.] 1839:183 [The natural history and classification v. 2; ref. 4303] Masc. Gobius acutipennis Valenciennes 1837. Type by subsequent designation. As a subgenus of Gobius, without included species. Bleeker 1874:327 [ref. 437] designated a type for Apocryptes Valenciennes and included Gobileptes in synonymy; this has been regarded wrongly as type designation for Gobileptes. First addition of species dates to Jordan 1919:198 [ref. 2410], type as Gobius acutipinnis. See Murdy 1989:7 [ref. 13628]. Declared a Nomen Oblitum by Kottelat (2013):414 [ref. 32989]. •In the synonymy of Oligolepis Bleeker 1874 -- (Kottelat 2013:414 [ref. 32989]). Nomen Oblitum. Kelloggella Jordan [D. S.] & Seale [A.] in Jordan & Evermann 1905:488 [Bulletin of the U. S. Fish Commission v. 23 (pt 1) (1903); ref. 2451] Fem. Enypnias oligolepis Jenkins 1903. Type by monotypy. First as above (29 July 1905), then in Jordan & Seale 1906:409 [ref. 2497], with "type" K. cardinalis Jordan & Seale. Intended type was cardinalis (in parentheses after genus in 29 July), but that species not then available. •Valid as Kelloggella Jordan & Seale 1905 -- (Hoese 1975 [ref. 5294], Sawada 1977 [ref. 6984], Yoshino in Masuda et al. 1984:268 [ref. 6441], Birdsong et al. 1988:190 [ref. 7303], Larson & Murdy 2001:3582 [ref. 26293], Thacker 2011:130 [ref. 31731], Tornabene et al. 2017:1 [ref. 35703], Parenti 2021:189 [ref. 38603]). Waitea Jordan [D. S.] & Seale [A.] 1906:407 [Bulletin of the Bureau of Fisheries v. 25 (for 1905); ref. 2497] Fem. Waitea stomias Smith 1941. Type species by subsequent designation. Apparently based on a misidentified type species, specimen later renamed Waitea stomias by Smith 1941:411.
