Actual locality is Asia. Syntypes: (several) NMW 46191 (2). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:99 [ref. 29155]. Species illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1881:7, Pl. 5 (fig. 1) [ref. 14299]. Bockmann & de Pinna 2004 [ref. 27907] refer the species to the Asian genus Olyra and comment on the original type locality. •Valid as Myoglanis collettii (Steindachner 1881) -- (Burgess 1989:276 [ref. 12860], Menni 2004:83 [ref. 28131] as colletti, Nión et al. 2016:33 [ref. 35565]). •Valid as Heptapterus collettii Steindachner 1881 -- (Bockmann & Guazzelli in Reis et al. 2003:413 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:62 [ref. 27366]). •In genus Olyra and may be a synonym of Olyra longicaudata McClelland 1842 -- (Bockmann & de Pinna 2004:671 [ref. 27907], Kottelat 2013:264 [ref. 32989]). •Species inquirenda in Olyra -- (Ferraris 2007:99 [ref. 29155]). •Synonym of Olyra longicaudata McClelland 1842 -- (Ng et al. 2014:271 [ref. 33353]). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:99 [ref. 29155]. Authorship from p. 574. Original species spelling is corrected to reflect the feminine ending. Neotype designated by Arunachalam et al. 2013:56 [ref. 32608], however they designated 3 specimens in MSUMNH; not established in Fig. 6 where one specimen was mentioned. Neotype designation by Arunachalam et al. 2013:7 [ref. 34528] as MSUMNH 67.
