Type specimen probably belongs to the subspecies virginalis. •Synonym of Oncorhynchus clarkii (Richardson 1836), but a valid subspecies stomias (Cope 1871) -- (Baxter & Stone 1995:178 [ref. 23374] as clarki, Behnke 1992:146 [ref. 23385] as clarki, Fuller et al. 1999:244 [ref. 25838] as clarki, Scharpf 2006:27 [ref. 30386], Page & Burr 2011:407 [ref. 31215], Penaluna et al. 2016:291 [ref. 34726]). •Synonym of Oncorhynchus virginalis (Girard 1856). Current status: Synonym of Oncorhynchus virginalis (Girard 1856). Salmonidae: Salmoninae. Distribution: Upper South Platt and Arkansas river systems: Colorado and historically southeastern Wyoming, U.S.A. [subspecies stomias if that name is correct]. Habitat: freshwater.
