Current status: Synonym of Opisthopterus tardoore (Cuvier 1829). Pristigasteridae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

tartoor, Pristigaster Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1847:328 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 20; ref. 1012] Puducherry, India. Lectotype: MNHN 0000-1688. Paralectotypes: MNHN 0000-3698 (2), 0000-3701 (8), 0000-3702 (2). Type catalog: Bertin 1940:294 [ref. 293]. Perhaps can be regarded as a description independent of Pristigaster tardoore Cuvier 1829. MNHN 1688 was designated lectotype by Eschmeyer 1998:1653 [ref. 23416] which made P. tartoor an objective synonym of P. tardoore (Cuvier 1829). •Synonym of Opisthopterus tardoore (Cuvier 1829) -- (Whitehead 1985:294 [ref. 5141], Munroe et al. 1999:1767 [ref. 24728], Kottelat 2013:51 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Opisthopterus tardoore (Cuvier 1829). Pristigasteridae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
