Current status: Valid as Paracanthopoma alleynei (Henschel, Bernt, Baskin, Schmidt & Lujan 2021). Trichomycteridae: Vandelliinae. Distribution: South America: Essequibo and Branco River basins, Guyana and Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.

Lectotype: IRSNB 43. Paralectotype: IRSNB 602 (1). Type catalog: Walschaerts 1987:16-17 [ref. 20755], Ferraris 2007:410 [ref. 29155]. Lectotype selected by Henschel et al. 2021 [ref. 38806]. •Valid as Paracanthopoma parva Giltay 1935 -- (Burgess 1989:324 [ref. 12860], Schmidt 1993:185 [ref. 22299], de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:276 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:410 [ref. 29155], Barriga Salazar 2014:111 [ref. 35745], Sarmiento et al. 2014:192 [ref. 35004], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:71 [ref. 35633] with no species, Dagosta & de Pinna 2021:16 [ref. 38286], Henschel et al. 2021:6 [ref. 38711], Henschel et al. 2021:1 [ref. 38806], de Pinna & Dagosta 2022:47 [ref. 39792]).
