Paralectotypes: (at least 12) BMNH 1848.3.18.131-135 (5?), 1848.3.18.216 (1), 1853.2.14.21 (1); ZMB 5002 (1, not found). Originally as novae zeelandiae. Lectotype selected by Norman 1934:427 [ref. 6893] (as holotype). Paralectotypes are probably Peltorhamphus latus James 1972. •Valid as Peltorhamphus novaezeelandiae Günther 1862 -- (Sakamoto 1984:211 [ref. 5273], Paulin et al. 1989:240 [ref. 24556], Evseenko 1996:727 [ref. 24666], Evseenko 2004:20 [ref. 27606], Munroe 2015:1696 [ref. 34321], Munroe 2021:21 [ref. 38102]). Current status: Valid as Peltorhamphus novaezeelandiae Günther 1862. Rhombosoleidae. Distribution: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
