Available from footnote as, "P. molucca, N., Renard, I, xv, 85; et Valent., no. 46." ('Ikan toetetoe' of Valentyn 1726:360, fig. 46 [ref. 30358].). Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:160 [ref. 23762]. Based on Day's treatment of Pempheris molucca on p. 175, Pl. 42 (fig. 2) (not of Cuvier). Literature sources also added, including "Sparus mangulakutti" Russell 1803:10, Pl. 14 [ref. 13862]. •Synonym of Pempheris mangula Cuvier 1829 -- (Koeda et al. 2014:309 [ref. 33297]). •Valid as Pempheris russellii Day 1888 -- (Randall et al. 2014:377 [ref. 33585], Psomadakis et al. 2015:288 [ref. 34104], Randall & Victor 2015:7 [ref. 34131], Randall & Victor 2022:111 [ref. 39910]).
