Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied by Etheostoma maculata Kirtland 1841 when both are in Etheostoma and secondarily preoccupied in Percina by Alvordius maculatus Girard 1859, replaced by Hadropterus notogrammus Raney & Hubbs 1948. Lectotype selected in Collette & Knapp 1967:43 [ref. 20211]. •Objective synonym of Percina notogramma (Raney & Hubbs 1948) -- (Page 1983:38 [ref. 22189]). 2°Homonym. Described as a new species, but in their abstract the authors state, "The cotypes of Hadropterus maculatus (Girard, 1859b:100), in the United States National Museum (No. 1157), upon re-examination prove to be the species herein described as new. The name, however, is preoccupied ..."
