paradiseus, Petroskirtes Bleeker [P.] 1854:495 [Natuurkundig Tijdschrift voor Nederlandsch IndiĆ« v. 6 (no. 3); ref. 344] Ambon Island, Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Holotype (unique): RMNH 26668. Original genus should have been Petroscirtes. •Synonym of Aspidontus taeniatus Quoy & Gaimard 1834, subspecies taeniatus -- (Smith-Vaniz 1976:57 [ref. 4144]). Current status: Synonym of Aspidontus taeniatus Quoy & Gaimard 1834. Blenniidae: Blenniinae. Habitat: marine.

rostratus, Petroscirtes Valenciennes [A.] (ex Solander) in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1836:62 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 11; ref. 1005] Bleeker specimens: RMNH 4453 (1). Blennius rostatus appeared as a manuscript name of Solander mentioned in the synonymy of Blennechis filamentosus Valenciennes 1836; Bleeker 1857:62 [ref. 356] used Solander's name as the valid one so that makes the name available from 1836 with authorship as Valenciennes. Types, if available, is (are) the one(s) on which Solander based his manuscript description. •Synonym of Aspidontus taeniatus Quoy & Gaimard 1834, subspecies taeniatus -- (Smith-Vaniz 1976:57 [ref. 4144] based on Bleeker 1857).
