Mees (1974:134 [ref. 2969]) uses Pimelodus blochii for the South American Pimelodus clarias of authors. •Treated as valid -- (Gómez & Chebez 1996:59 [ref. 23791], López et al. 2002:63 [ref. 26808]). •Name belongs to an African species, misused for Pimelodus blochii Valenciennes 1840 -- (Villa-Navarro et al. 2017:354 [ref. 35495]). 1°Homonym.
